The South Bay Community Library Pollinator Garden was installed next to the Library parking area by our club in 2019 and has since won three first-place awards from California Garden Clubs, Inc. These awards were for Civic Development, Operation Wildflower, and Pollinator Education.
In 2020, the club has since installed a new Fire-Safe Garden next to the Library after a fire scorched the side of the building. The club has also just placed a succulent planter in front of the Los Osos Post Office to help beautify the entrance area.
The Los Osos Valley Garden Club believes in giving back to the community and the environment. Some of our charitable contributions include:
Donation of gardening books to SLO County Library; funds to Los Osos Middle School California Native Plant Program; vegetable flats to local elementary schools, Achievement House and Sunny Acres; funds and trees to Greening Los Osos; native plants to Morro Coast Audubon Society's Sweet Springs Nature Preserve; funds to One Cool Earth, school gardening education; funds to Los Padres National Forest for forest restoration; funds to Friends of the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden; funds to SLO Food Bank.
